On May 14th, I proudly accepted the Democratic nomination as candidate for Albemarle County's Commonwealth's Attorney. This campaign promises to be a challenging one and I am confident that I can win with your help and support. In Albemarle County we need a change in the Office of Commonwealth's Attorney.
As chief prosecutor, the Commonwealth's Attorney is responsible for overseeing the prosecution of crimes in our community. The Commonwealth's Attorney must always see that justice is served. Crimes should be viewed for what they are, and the race or wealth of those involved should never play a role in whether or how crimes are prosecuted. This work is vital and can have a significant impact on the crime rate.We deserve a prosecutor who takes the time and the care to see that every case is handled as if it were the only case.
We deserve a Commonwealth's Attorney who truly protects victims and who protects our children and our senior citizens. We deserve the best in Albemarle County. And we can make our criminal justice system the best.
As Commonwealth's Attorney I will work with social services, schools and with organizations such as TRIAD, which is a partnership between law enforcement and senior citizens in our community. I will make sure that our children and seniors are protected and empowered. I will give victims of crime a voice in the criminal justice system. By working with organizations such as the Sexual Assault Resource Agency and the Shelter for Help in Emergency, I will help ensure that a person victimized by crime does not feel victimized again by the justice system.
As your Commonwealth's Attorney, I will work with law enforcement to make our community a safer place to live, and I will use my experience to effectively and responsibly represent Albemarle County in its criminal matters.
